Actors Chung Ae-ri and Cho Min-ki have been selected as winners of the special volunteer award of the Inter-Parliamentarians for Social Service. The two will receive the award on August 24 at the organization's general meeting that will be held at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul. Chung has been providing volunteer services to orphanages since 1989, and participated in events organized to distribute meals to starving children. She has also sponsored starving children in Korea and abroad, and in 2004 visited India to help children who were affected by the deadly tsunami. Cho is known for his volunteer work in Africa, where he has helped children and malaria patients. He also held a photo exhibition to raise funds to relieve water shortages in African countries. Cho regularly holds briefing sessions on starvation for domestic corporations and industrial groups and raises funds to help starving people. IPPS Chairman and Grand National Party lawmaker Lee Kyung-je says the two actors deserve the award for serving society.
